STAINLESS STEEL BAR FROM BRAZIL, INDIA, JAPAN, AND SPAIN

ITC MAKES DETERMINATIONS IN FIVE-YEAR (SUNSET) REVIEWS CONCERNING STAINLESS STEEL BAR FROM BRAZIL, INDIA, JAPAN, AND SPAIN

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty orders on stainless steel bar from Brazil, India, Japan, and Spain would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

As a result of the Commission’s affirmative determinations and the Department of Commerce’s recent affirmative findings, the existing orders on imports of this product from Brazil, India, Japan, and Spain will remain in place.

With respect to India and Japan, all six Commissioners voted in the affirmative. With respect to Brazil and Spain, Vice Chairman Shara L. Aranoff and Commissioners Jennifer A. Hillman, Stephen Koplan, Charlotte R. Lane voted in the affirmative; Chairman Daniel R. Pearson and Commissioner Deanna Tanner Okun voted in the negative.

Today’s action comes under the five-year (sunset) review process required by the Uruguay Round Agreements Act. See the attached page for background on these five-year (sunset) reviews.

The Commission’s public report Stainless Steel Bar from Brazil, India, Japan, and Spain (Inv. Nos. 731-TA-678, 679, 681, and 682 (Second Review)), USITC Publication 3895, December 2006) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the reviews.
